NDSU Women’s Basketball Travels to Kansas City and Omaha

NDSU Bison Women's Basketball Heads East for Key Summit League Matchups in Kansas City and Omaha

The North Dakota State Bison women's basketball team (14-8, 8-4 Summit) hits the road this week for a crucial two-game stretch in the Summit League, facing the Kansas City Roos (4-13, 0-7 Summit) on Thursday, February 8th, and the Omaha Mavericks (11-13, 6-7 Summit) on Saturday, February 10th.

Bison Look to Bounce Back After Narrow Loss: Coming off a tough 84-75 defeat at Oral Roberts, NDSU will be aiming to regain their winning momentum. Despite the loss, Elle Evans continued her impressive season, pouring in 26 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. The Bison will need a collective effort to overcome a Kansas City team desperate for their first conference win.

Kansas City Seeking Upset: The Roos have struggled in conference play thus far, but are coming off a close defeat to Oral Roberts themselves. Alayna Contreras has been a bright spot for them, averaging 19.4 points per game in conference action. NDSU cannot take this matchup lightly, and will need to focus on shutting down Contreras and limiting their turnovers.

Omaha Presents Another Challenge: The Mavericks boast a more balanced attack, with four players averaging double-digit scoring. They are coming off a hard-fought loss to South Dakota State and will be looking to bounce back on their home court. NDSU has historically dominated this matchup, winning 7 of the last 10 meetings, but Omaha cannot be underestimated.

Keys to Success for NDSU:

Limit Turnovers: Turnovers plagued the Bison against Oral Roberts, and they will need to be sharper against Kansas City and Omaha.

Balanced Scoring: While Evans has been a scoring machine, NDSU needs other players to step up and contribute offensively.

Defense Wins Championships: The Bison have a strong defense, and they will need to be at their best to contain the scoring threats of both opponents.

Looking Ahead: These two games are crucial for NDSU's hopes of securing a high seed in the Summit League tournament. A strong showing this week will give them valuable momentum heading into the final stretch of the conference season.
