Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott reunite for 2024 season

Zeke's Back in Big D: Cowboys Reunite with Ezekiel Elliott

The prodigal son is back! After a one-year stint in New England, Ezekiel Elliott is officially back in a Dallas Cowboys uniform. The two sides agreed to terms on a contract through the 2024 season, bolstering the Cowboys' running back depth and reigniting a familiar fire in Dallas.

Elliott, a two-time rushing champion with the Cowboys, was released after the 2022 season in a cost-cutting move. He spent last year backing up Ramondre Stevenson for the Patriots, but started the final five games when Stevenson went down. Now, he'll try to recapture his glory days in Dallas.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has always been vocal about his belief in Elliott's talent. "We're very interested in seeing what the future looks like with Zeke," Jones said after the 2024 NFL Draft, where the Cowboys passed up selecting a running back.

Elliott's return adds a veteran presence to a backfield that includes Rico Dowdle, Davis Vaughn, Hunter Lupke, and journeyman Rhys Freeman. It will be interesting to see how the carries are distributed, but one thing is for sure: Zeke is back in Dallas, and Cowboys fans are excited to see him running the Rock again.
